Full training session for shooting technique (U11)

Full training session for shooting technique (U11)

This is practical example for coaches how to prepare and set up a shooting technique session keeping in mind various factors that every coach must know:

  • space allocated for his group,
  • equipment available,
  • number of players attending the session,
  • time of duration of the session.

Before practice, coach should have aim of the session that he wishes to work on.  This time is:

SHOOTING FOR U11 GROUP

There are several situations and techniques you can practice to develop the ideal technique and automatic ability. So you should prepare exercises to suit your team’s abilities.

Use of the equipment is individually to every coach and his coaching style; what is curtain is to try and have minimum pieces used so it takes less time to set up and pick up, meaning more time for practicing, less preparation for the coach and easier to move on to the next practice. With the equipment is important to have pre plan where to store it on the pitch so it’s on your hand away if you need to add or remove it in shortest time possible.

FULL SESSION – ONE SETUP

When setting up a session and having in mind the procedure that you wish to implement and the direction you want your session to lead, note the idea of the layout and progression system used in this practice. You will have one set up for the most of the training session. Two goalposts are used on both sides with two goalkeepers. 14 players attending the practice are divided in groups of 6, playing on both sides, plus goalkeepers at the goals, maximizing space and increasing repetition of the execution ratio for every player. Also, in every repetition, player is encouraged to use his both feet alternatively, insisting on importance of being able to take advantage in any situation during the game. In situation when you don’t have goalkeepers available, you can instruct your players to stay at the goal and take a turn after every shot.

CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE START

It’s beneficial for the practice’s flow if the session is explained to the players from the start, in full, including progressions, which again avoids time spending on talking and not training. Instruct your players about rotation, how to change places after their turn, to go for their football when finish their go, and any rules during the small sided game.

Intelligent and dedicated coach goes to every session prepared and with plan B if something needs to be changed in the last moment. Also, it is good advice to have variation prepared that fit the set up in case you need to increase or even decrease level, or load to your players. If it’s possible, do not remove any set up or add minimal changes to it.

SHOOTING TECHNIQUE AFTER DRIBBLING THE BALL

WARM UP – 10 minutes

Each player with the ball performs technical elements in a small area following dynamic stretching and repetitions of acceleration in the space using the ball.

INSTRUCTION

Players dribble the ball starting from the goal line on the side of the goalpost around the cone, 15 meters away. When approaching the cone few meters before player passes the ball in space, runs around the cone and takes the shot at goal. After he finishes his action, he goes to the group on the other side. Both groups work alternatively using right and left foot when shooting.

COACHING POINTS

Taking the right angle when approaching the ball to take a shot, keep low balance on the supporting foot, striking the ball with instep, follow the ball through, taking the look at the goal and the goalkeeper before the shot, aiming to the sides of the goal. Both coaching principles apply when using both feet.

SHOOTING TECHNIQUE AFTER RECEIVING THE BALL

Player receives the pass from his teammate, takes the touch behind the cone preparing the shooting positioning for himself and taking the strike at goal. Player who passed the ball follows his pass to become shooter while other player is moving to the group on the other side of the goalpost. Both groups work alternatively using right and left foot when receiving and shooting.

COACHING POINTS

SHOOTING UNDER MODERATE PRESSURE FROM DEFENDER

Shooting_tehnique3

INSTRUCTION

Players are in partners and playing 2v1 to score a goal. They are allowed to score only from behind the cone or a line placed 10 meters in front of the goal and goalkeeper, encouraging players to use shooting technique. Defenders change after every two repetitions and all players take the turn to be in attacking two.

COACHING POINTS

Under pressure from defender attacking player must decide on the action he is going to take. Dribbling and shooting or passing to his partner who must control the ball to take quick shot at goal.

SHOOTING TECHNIQUE IN GAME SITUATION

COACHING POINTS
