- You’ve probably heard it many times, while coaching, don’t use negative comments and give positive reinforcement. Use praise and encouragement, although this should not take away from the intensity of any exercise.
- For better player’s development and to encourage more touches on the ball, keep the players active, avoid lines and avoid long wait times.
- Emphasize correct technique. It is very difficult to change incorrectly learned techniques when players are older and have gotten used to them.
- Each player is an individual. Aggressive or quiet, recognition of player’s personality will allow you to respond to all players, and they will respond to you positively.
- Rotate positions, as all players should be active and try to play in different roles.
- Each session should be planed so that players touch the ball as many times as possible. Basic movements such as running, skipping, hopping, etc. need to be emphasized. If these can be done while kicking, catching, rolling, or dribbling a ball… all the better!
